ABOUT US

Koontahdin Maine Coons is a small, home-based cattery located in Sudbury, Massachusetts twenty miles west of Boston. Our name comes from Mt. Katahdin, the highest peak in Maine. We specialize in brown and blue tabbies with and without white. Other colors are available occasionally. We breed our cats for health, personality, and conformity to the CFA Breed Standard. We show in CFA, and our cattery is CFA and TICA registered.

We consider our cats our pets as well as show cats and breeders. The girls have the run of the house, while the boys have their own room. Our moms are moved into our bedroom a week before they deliver, and their kittens remain with them until they have had their second shots. Afterwards both mom and kittens are free to join the other girls. Our kittens leave the cattery when they are at least 12 weeks old to insure that they are well socialized.

Our kittens are sold with a spay/neuter agreement, and our contract specifies that they are to be indoor cats only and are not to be declawed. All our kittens are veterinarian checked and come with a health guarantee. All our breeding cats are NEGATIVE for the MyBCP HCM Gene Mutation.
